Sons of Maxwell

*Tickets available on Thursday, March 26th at 10AM*

Award winning Sons of Maxwell are happy to announce they’re bringing their Holiday Celebration to the Fredericton Playhouse for the first time.

Don and Dave Carroll formed Sons of Maxwell in 1989 and quickly became a popular fixture on the Maritime music scene, including Fredericton’s own Dolan’s Pub. As a touring group, they continued travelling and performing together nationally and internationally for over 20 years. Following the unprecedented success of the viral YouTube hit “United Breaks Guitars“, Dave became a professional speaker and storyteller and released three solo music projects. Don became a career firefighter that same summer and later released an iconic solo project of Jazz standards. Now – a few years later – Sons of Maxwell are back on stage together enjoying the music and reunions with old and new friends.

The annual Sons of Maxwell Holiday Celebration features not only classic music of the season but also the humorous stories and songs their fans have come to love. This festive evening is the perfect way to celebrate the season with family and friends!

A master of several instruments, Ray Legere was the winner of the Canadian Open Mandolin championship in 1983 and in 1986, won the American championship. He has won many awards for his mandolin, fiddle and acoustic guitar playing, gaining the masters award level. In 2019, Ray received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for High Achievement in the Arts and was inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall Of Fame the same year. Ray was also inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame in 2016.

Alan Jeffries’ music is the product of many influences but rooted deeply in bluegrass. A powerful singer and musician, he is well known to music fans as a mainstay in David Myles’ band. Having moved home to New Brunswick late last year, he has been teaming up as a producer with local artists (Kill Chicago, The Montgomery Street Band) and, of course, performing with Canadian bluegrass music icon Ray Legere.
