SUMMARY:Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute (Fredericton)
DESCRIPTION:Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute featuring Connor Fox & Jonnie Price\nat Dolan’s Pub on Wednesday\, March 13\, 2024\nDoors at 6:30PM. Show at 7:30PM.\nJust five weeks after the release of his debut LP\, Texas Flood\, Austin guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughn was already well on his way to cementing his status as a giant of the blues. However\, when he crossed the border for a sweltering July date in 1983 at the fabled El Mocambo in Toronto\, a legend was born.\n\nStevie Ray Vaughn Live at The El Mocambo is a historic set that included scorching originals mixed with covers from blues titans like Buddy Guy\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Lonnie Mack and John Lee Hooker. The night also extended to rock’s lineage by including three Jimi Hendrix covers\, proving that Stevie Ray was part of an exciting new breed\, complete with it’s own set of reference points. As for the performance itself\, it was delivered with a fire and passion that was uniquely Stevie’s and arced from emotionally raw to fiercely powerful.\n\nOn March 13th\, join us at Dolan’s Pub as our winter blues series continues with a faithful recreation of this legendary live performance\, on its 40th anniversary\, along with a bonus set of SRV favourites. Connor Fox and Jonnie Price hold up their end of the bargain by leading the guitar charge\, while Jamie Guitar and Andrew DeMerchant anchor the night in their respective roles as Double Trouble. This show is a ‘must-see’ for any fan of the guitar.\n*THANK YOU to our sponsors THE FREDERICTON INN

SUMMARY:Travelogue: In the Footsteps of Joni Mitchell
DESCRIPTION:Join an array of fantastic Canadian musicians as they honour and perform the timeless work of Joni Mitchell. One of the most influential singer-songwriters of all time\, Mitchell’s career spans half a century\, and each of her albums is a universe in itself; audiences will almost certainly have heard of her 1971 record Blue\, which NPR put at the top of its 2017 list of Greatest Albums Made by Women. She holds ten Grammy awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame\, and her influence on contemporary music is incalculable. \nMitchell’s career is treated to a loving retrospective by vocalist Coral Egan\, Yannick Rieu on saxophone\, and Daniel Thouin on piano. They are backed up by Rick Haworth (electric guitar)\, Rémi-Jean Leblanc (electric bass)\, Miles Dupire-Gagnon (percussion\, vocals)\, Robbie Kuster (drums) and Zachary Boileau (acoustic guitar). Together these talented artists offer us an insight into Joni Mitchell’s work where jazz\, folk\, and pop blend in an original and cohesive way. Audiences should expect groundbreaking renditions of hits such as “River\,” “Big Yellow Taxi\,” and “Coyote\,” rooted in the spirit of musical open-mindedness that defines Joni Mitchell’s repertoire. \nMusic Runs Through It is pleased to be a partner in this presentation. \nTravelogue – sur les Traces de Joni Mitchell : Court and Spark
