Steve McKay & the Charlotte Street Ramblers raised $1,600 for local food banks!

Saturday night’s event at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre featuring Steve McKay & the Charlotte Street Ramblers along with Les Chanterelles (+ a few special guests) was a huge success.

We were thrilled with the huge crowd of supporters who were able to join us and enthusiastically contributed to the cause and took their energy to the dance floor.

We offer our never-ending appreciation to the musicians who served up the beats: Steve McKay, Shane Guitar, Jamie Guitar, Ross Beckett, Gary Morehouse, Juanita Bourque, Sylvia Reentovich, Justine Everett, Tim Everett and special guests Paul ‘Soupy’ Campbell, Doug Keeling and Krista Touesnard. They provided the perfect groove to keep everyone moving and set the tone for another holiday season.

Deep gratitude goes out to our sponsors: Bringloe Feeney, Bella Hospitality Group, Lansdowne Concert Series, Long & McQuade, UPS Store, Charlotte Street Arts Centre, and The CAP.

Special thanks to Sandra Eligh from CSAC, Jennifer Sypher and Mary Stewart for making sure the night ran as smoothly as possible.

Everyone’s contributions directly affected our ability to raise $1,600 to give to the Feed A Family Campaign in support of our local food banks!

Local Musicians Unite for a Heartfelt Evening of Music and Giving

In a year that has posed numerous challenges, a collective of local musicians is banding together to spread joy and support those in need. As 2023 draws to a close, these artists aim to create a memorable community gathering, all while giving back.

Known as “Steve & the Charlotte Street Ramblers,” this ensemble comprises members from well known local bands like The Hypochondriacs, Les Chanterelles, The Contradictions, among others. Together, they’re crafting a night of captivating live music, all in aid of a worthy cause.

Last year’s CBC Information Morning 2022 Feed-a-Family campaign raised an amazing $144,140! The objective is to provide those in need with the warmth and joy of a traditional Christmas dinner, ensuring every family can relish this cherished time of year.

The organizers extend heartfelt gratitude to the community sponsors who have rallied behind this initiative, including Bella Hospitality Group, Bringloe Feeney, Lansdowne Concert Series, Charlotte Street Arts Centre, Restorative Health, and The MRTI Agency. Their support is instrumental in making this event a resounding success.

Join us on Saturday, December 2nd at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre for an evening filled with enchanting melodies and lively beats, all in support of CBC’s Feed-a-Family campaign. Doors open at 7 PM, and the performance kicks off at 7:30 PM. Donations (suggested $10) will be gratefully accepted at the door.

Introducing The MRTI Agency: A New Chapter in Live Music Promotion and Management

Music Runs Through It (MRTI), a cornerstone of the Capital city’s live music scene since 2012, is proud to announce the launch of The MRTI Agency. This evolution marks an exciting development for the company, as it expands its services to provide comprehensive support to artists, businesses, and the community at large.

Founded over a decade ago, MRTI’s mission has always been to connect music lovers with live music events happening in the Capital city. Over the years, MRTI has forged strong partnerships with local businesses and cultivated a vibrant community of music enthusiasts.

As the local and provincial music scene encounters some challenges, Music Runs Through It (MRTI) understands the importance of change and growth. Through Emma’s collaboration with Krista Touesnard and Rob Pinnock at the Tipsy Muse Cafe, where they spearheaded initiatives such as launching the Cold Snap Music Series, organizing the ECMA Local Committee, and co-presenting shows, they unearthed a mutual fervor for enriching the live music experience and amplifying their impact on the broader community. This realization led them to unite their strengths and embark on a transformative journey, culminating in the birth of The MRTI Agency.

The MRTI Agency will continue to provide weekly live music event listings, ensuring that people are well informed about the happenings in the local music scene. The Agency will now also offer a range of additional services, including artist management, event promotion and production, and consultation for businesses seeking to incorporate live music into their events.

Emma, Krista, and Rob’s combined expertise and dedication promise an exciting venture for The MRTI Agency. Their mission remains clear: to let the music run through us all and to provide unwavering support to the community they hold dear.
