Last week Sherman Downey played a show in Fredericton as part of our ‘Music Runs Through It‘ Series and we all enjoyed a lovely evening! Sadly, both of Sherman’s guitars were stolen from his car after the show.

The response to this terrible act has been incredible. The local Fredericton paper, The Daily Gleaner, The CBC and media outlets throughout Newfoundland and Labrador all ran stories in a concentrated effort to find Sherman’s missing instruments. A Facebook post on Sherman’s Music page about the incident reached 111,841 people in just two days. Unfortunately, the guitars have yet to be found.

Many of you have been wanting to help Sherman replace the tools of his trade, but he adamant that he doesn’t want donations and remains hopeful the guitars will find their way home. He’s also learning that some of you are quite determined to see that this is made right, so we’ve come up with a great plan!

As a thank you to the outpouring of support in searching for his instruments and in an effort to offer a small window of opportunity to help, Sherman has decided to perform the sets from his recent tour on Facebook Live, Sunday April 23rd at 8:00 pm (NL Time)! This Online Concert will be free, but when the show begins at 8:00 PM Newfoundland Time, the ‘Music Runs Through It’ team here in Fredericton will kick off a Pre-Sale Order Campaign for Sherman’s next recording to coincide with Sherman’s show. This campaign will run during the Online Concert and will be shut down once the performance has concluded.

For every Pre-Sale Purchase made during the show, Sherman will personally mail an advanced copy of his new album once it is finalized. The Campaign will also provide him the means to thank each and every one of you who wants to help at this time. Revenue raised during his Online Performance will help replace his guitars while at the same time contribute to the recording process for his upcoming album.

The Facebook Live Performance will run approximately 2 hours and Sherman hopes you will settle in with a friend and a cup of tea to watch the ‘last show’ of his solo tour. The Pre-Sale Album cost is completely up to you.

I think this is a great way to both right the wrong in some small way and to show our support to Sherman as he finishes up his album, so mark your calendar and tune into Sherman’s Facebook Music Page on Sunday, April 23rd at 8PM (NL time) to enjoy the show! “Music Runs Through It” will provide a link during the performance if you’re inclined to help by Pre-Ordering the new album.
