The MRTI Agency is celebrating their first anniversary in business by launching an outstanding live music series.  As a team dedicated to serving the needs of music lovers in New Brunswick and acting on behalf of some of the province’s brightest talents, their fall live music series is an exciting lineup that warms the upcoming cooler evenings with some hot talent.

Things kick off September 29th with Victoria (BC) based, alt-country singer songwriter LEEROY STAGGER. Stagger is an acclaimed songwriter and producer, who has released 12 full length albums, the most recent being 2021’s Dystopian Weekends. Stagger has shared stages with artists ranging from The Pixies to Steve Earle, with whom he made a much-talked about stop with Earle at the Fredericton Playhouse this past July.

On October 5th, a very special performance is scheduled for CHRISTINA MARTIN. Martin will be returning to the city where she grew up, with a full band and the ELM CITY STRING QUARTET (ECSQ), celebrating songs from her ECMA nominated album ‘Storm’. For this performance, her music and deeply personal lyrical territory will be backed by the lush accompaniment of ECSQ adding a new emotional depth to her catalogue. This is a show not to be missed.

One of the Maritimes biggest rising talents is singer/songwriter TERRA SPENCER, who will take the stage on November 2. Spencer is one of those unique talents who can not only deliver the story within a song, but also has the skill to give it the emotional punch it needs. Her touching song, Brick and Mortar was named the winner of the Commonwealth Song Contest, beating out 20,000 other entries. She has collaborated with some of Canada’s biggest names including, David Francey, Ben Caplan, and Matt Anderson. Ron Sexsmith has called her ‘the real deal’. Spencer will be touring in support of her upcoming project, Sunset, scheduled for release in September.

One of the hardest tricks an artist can pull off is to be something truly original, and when talking about Canadian blues legend HARRY MANX, originality is exactly what you get.  Manx has been called an ‘essential link’ between the hard blues music of the American south and the depth of classical ragas found in the Middle East. He studied with musical inventor Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the inventor of the 20 stringed Mohan Veena. It has since become Manx’s signature instrument. If mixing the blues with world music excites you, then you won’t want to miss this show, scheduled for November 21.

The MRTI Fall Series wraps with a Maritime songwriting legend, PEI’s LENNIE GALLANT. As for Gallant, the credentials speak for themselves; he has released 15 albums (11 English and 4 French), achieved Juno recognition and a list of ECMA’s too large to list, but including Entertainer of The Year in 2017. In 2019, his song Peter’s Dream was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and he’s also been honoured with the Order of Canada. Most recently he co-wrote 2 songs on Jimmy Buffett’s last album and was invited to sing on it as a featured artist. Gallant brings his holiday show, The Innkeeper’s Christmas, to complete our series on November 30th.
